Newcourt Residential Win At The Sussex Heritage Trust Awards

Newcourt Residential win at Sussex Heritage Awards 2018

Newcourt Residential were delighted to receive a win at the 2018 Sussex Heritage Trust Awards.

Taking place at Pangdean Old Barn, Pyecombe, on the 4th July, the awards brought together designers, architects and construction professionals from across the region, all sharing a passion for preserving and honouring the heritage of the Sussex landscape.

Newcourt won in the Large Scale Residential Award category, receiving the accolade for their work on the Wadhurst Place development in Mayfield Lane, Wadhurst. This project involved the renovation, restoration and conversion of a Grade II Listed building that has had a varied history since its creation in 1884. Initially built as a country house, the property then became a girls’ boarding school, and remained so until its closure in 2006.  Newcourt lovingly worked to preserve the site’s heritage in its transition to Wadhurst Place, a stunning collection of residential apartments and mews houses with glorious views across The Weald, an area of outstanding natural beauty.

The judges praised Wadhurst Place, citing Newcourt’s “sensitive development of an at risk building completed to the highest standard”. They were also impressed by the workmanship, which was “carried out by highly skilled craftsmen, creating a sound future for a late Victorian building”.
